The Delaware Babe Ruth Umpires Association (DBRUA) was formed in January 2005 by the several leagues that offer Cal Ripken and Babe Ruth Baseball in the State of Delaware. The purposes and benefits of the association are as follows:

Education and Training
As a member of the DBRUA, you will have the opportunity to participate free of charge in umpire training workshops and clinics that will help you hone your skills on the field.. The DBRUA will also assist umpires wishing to obtain National Umpire Association (NUA) membership, which is required of active members.

Tournament Umpiring Opportunities
Each season, the DBRUA Board of Directors (composed of head umpires from all Delaware leagues) will select and certify inter-league crews of umpires to work each of the Delaware State Babe Ruth and Cal Ripken Tournaments. Only active DBRUA members will be eligible to be on these crews. Selected DBRUA umpires may also have the opportunity to officiate in regional tournaments held in Delaware.

Recognition
Only active DBRUA members may wear the insignia of the association—indicating that you are a trained, committed, experienced Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken umpire. All first-time DBRUA members will receive two association logo patches; renewing members receive one patch per year. Additional patches are available for purchase.

Peer Support
Each season, members of the DBRUA will receive a membership roster. You may use this list to contact your fellow umpires throughout the state to obtain a substitute, ask for advice, or arrange for a peer evaluation.

League Support
The association will assist league officers and DBRUA members who wish to expand or improve their local league’s umpire programs. This mutual support system will provide advice on recruitment, training, administration, and scheduling. If you are looking to improve your league’s umpiring program, the DBRUA can help.
